Florence Griswold Museum Field Trip
Students recently went on a field trip to the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, CT. At the beginning of the 20th century, Miss Florence Griswold’s boardinghouse became America’s most famous summer art colony. While on the trip, students visited the historic boardinghouse, toured the photography exhibit at the Krieble Gallery and explored the hand-crafted faerie homes that were on display as part of the annual Wee Faerie Village event. The students also experienced what it was like to be an Impressionist artist, as they painted a landscape ‘plein air’ on the banks of the river.
Nightmare Before Christmas Character Design and Live Performance Art!
In the spirit of Spirit Week, four AP Studio Art students took on the challenge of painting a character from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas movie, onto a BHS student model of their choice. Each student artist was given a Tyvek suit for the challenge on the Monday prior to paint on. Face paint was used on their face and hands. On Friday, October 28th the students were on display in the cafeteria for all lunch waves and everyone had the opportunity to vote on Character Design and Performance Art. (The inspiration for this came from here.)
