All finalists will have their work hung in the Department of Education Commissioner’s suite. At a later date, Erin will be invited to a gallery showing, that will be held for all 20 finalists.

Brent Catan was one of the 70 students who submitted a work, and while it wasn’t one of the finalists, he was given the opportunity to put his piece on display as part of a 4-6 month rotating gallery on the walls of the State Department Building in Hartford.

Adventure to Florence Griswold Museum!

On November 6, 2015, Mrs. DeSorbo organized an Art Department Field Trip to the Florence Griswold Museum – the home of the Old Lyme Art Colony – the main center of development of the American Impressionist Movement.

Students had an opportunity to view artworks by colony members at both the Florence Griswold House as well as The Artist in the Connecticut Landscape exhibition at the Krieble Gallery.
They also had an opportunity to paint landscapes of their own at the Education Center.

When finished there was time to tour the grounds, view the beautiful Lieutenant River, as well as explore the sculptures throughout the area.  A splendid time was had for all!
