All finalists will have their work hung in the Department of Education Commissioner’s suite. At a later date, Erin will be invited to a gallery showing, that will be held for all 20 finalists.

Brent Catan was one of the 70 students who submitted a work, and while it wasn’t one of the finalists, he was given the opportunity to put his piece on display as part of a 4-6 month rotating gallery on the walls of the State Department Building in Hartford.

In April, two students from the UConn ECE Drawing class, Junior Matthew Barden and Senior David Bordonaro, represented Berlin High School for the Vans Custom Culture Competition.  The two students were chosen by their peers throughout Mrs. Miller’s Drawing Classes with the honor to represent BHS.  Each student applied their designs to Vans shoes: 106, Sk8-Hi, Authentic and Slip on with four different themes: Art, Music, Action Sports and Local Flavor.  Below you will see their design sketches.
